iStore Case Study (murad.com)
We contacted Murad Inc. (http://www.murad.com) when we came to know from Oracle circles, they are having issues with the performance of Oracle iStore (11.5.7 version). Its around that time we, at ibizsoft, had come up with a unique solution of generating orders using Oracle’s standard APIs. However, this also involved using Oracle standard APIs for User and customer creation.
The biggest bottleneck in the performance of iStore is the ASO (Quoting) APIs, where the Cart related information is store and is passed to Order Management when the ‘Place Order’ button is clicked in iStore. We decided to do away with the ASO related tables and APIs and started using the standard PL/SQL APIs. What you see on murad.com are ibizsoft JSP files with look and feel changes, in addition to the usage of PL/SQL APIs for the backend.
The total time, it took, to deploy this totally new solution was less 4 weeks. And those goes to say how easy it is to deploy a Web-Store if you are not too keen on implementing Oracle iStore spending mega-bucks.
Recent releases of Oracle, version 11.5.9 and above do not have these kind of performance issues. I recently tested iStore R12 and it looks and works great.
