iStore R12 – Online Access to Existing Account
Prior to R12 Oracle iStore, whenever a customer registers online, for an account, duplicate account get created. And this B2B customer, would await for the approval from an iStore Administrator. During the Approval process iStore administrator had to select the correct account that the B2B Customer belonged to, since the new account does not display the default Shipping/Billing Addresses or any other default account related information, when the B2B Customer logs in, after the approval. This was happening because the first account was created via other channels, other than Oracle iStore. Hence there was a need to tie the Online User id with the correct account.
With R12 Oracle iStore, merchants have the ability to offer Customer Application access to customers who already have placed an order with them through a selling channel other than Oracle iStore (e.g., through a call center). This functionality, known as Online Access to Existing Account, lets customers register for access to Oracle iStore site(s) without the need to duplicate existing accounts. Since these customers have a pre-existing business relationship with the merchant, they generally already have a financial account in Oracle TCA which Oracle iStore can use to recognize and validate them. Once registered, these customers have full access to the sites; they can place orders and view the progress of orders (even if placed through another channel).
With Online Access to Existing Account functionality, the following general user management assumptions are made:
• Online Access to Existing Account is supported for B2C and B2B (including Oracle iSupport) users who have placed an order with the merchant (the B2B user must have placed the order as the sold-to customer).• Oracle Partner Management users are not candidates for this registration avenue. However, they can register as standard B2B users and then their primary user can add permissions at a later time.• Out-of-the-box, primary users cannot be registered with Online Access to Existing Account.
This functionality may not be available under certain conditions if your implementation is utilizing a Centralized Account Provisioning system (CAPs)
• Oracle iStore lookups determine the grouping and display of Oracle iStore user types (B2C, B2B primary, B2B contact, partner primary, partner contact) in the registration or partial registration screens. The lookup code of these lookups should be mapped to the User Type Key of the Oracle CRM Technology Foundation user types.
• While displaying the registration user-type listing page, if the system returns only one user type, then the user will be directly taken to the registration page for that user type.
